Glenlyon Estate

The heritage-listed Glenlyon in Brisbane was built in 1877 and features unique examples of traditional lime plasterwork including in-situ ran cornice along with decorative ceiling roses in all of the main rooms.

Between 2014 and 2017, McMillan Heritage Plastering carried out traditional and ornamental plaster works throughout Glenlyon. The traditional lime putty ‘ran in-situ’ method was used to complete cornice repairs with traditional mortar and putty lime mixes employed in the process. Traditional horse haired lime mortar repairs were also carried out on internal walls and lath and plaster ceilings.
